Sacramento - The Tower Theatre
This is an attractive building and is the city's oldest remaining movie palace. It opened in 1938 and is just one block to the south of the nearby Capital Freeway - just look ou for the neon lights. The films screened here are not your normal blockbuster movies, but instead more unusual, foreign and artsy films. Worth coming here for somethinga bit different and a flavor of yesteryear.

Down in Old Sacramento
The Old Town area is always very popular with tourists and is very close to the railway station. WE arrived very early and had a nice walk around when it was quiet. However, we came back at lunchtime and it was heaving with crowded of people swanning around. Completely different, but still great.

The California State Capitol Building
The California State Capitol Building is a major structure in Sacramento and was built between 1861 and 1874. It is open seven days a week and turned out to be a great attraction. We came here and joined a guided tour, which I was surprised was free of charge. This is a typical American capitol building, very grand, with columns and a big dome on the top. It is now on the National Register. A formal park is outside, where the Vietnam War Memorial stands.
